Our Jam Band Fantasy Camp is a musical experience for musicians and vocalists to take their skills and confidence to the next level, realize their dreams are possible, and create bonds and friendships for life with fellow aspiring musicians. Playing with our counselors and guest star musicians over four days will make YOU a better musician!
Jam Bands are bands whose live albums and concerts relate to a fan culture that really began in the 1960s with the Grateful Dead, who held lengthy improvisational "jams" during their concerts. These include extended musical improvisation over rhythmic grooves and chord patterns, and long sets of music which often cross genre boundaries. Jam Band artists often perform a wide variety of genres. While the Grateful Dead is categorized as psychedelic rock, by the 1990s the term "jam band" was applied to acts that incorporated genres such as blues, country music, contemporary folk music, funk, progressive rock, world music, jazz fusion, Southern rock, alternative rock, acid jazz, bluegrass, folk rock, and electronic music into their sound. Although the term has been used to describe cross-genre and improvisational artists, it retains an affinity to the fan cultures of the Grateful Dead or Phish.
At this camp, you will jam for four straight days and prepare to jam with the legendary OTEIL BURBRIDGE, JEFF CHIMENTI, SCOTT METZGER, ERIC KRASNO AND JOHN MEDESKI in a private studio and live the dream and check off the bucket list you’ve always wanted. Additionally, you will perform live on Sunday night for your final concert in front of family friends, and jam band fans at The Cutting Room in NYC.
The Cutting Room
At its new location on East 32nd Street between Park and Madison, The Cutting Room builds on a decade of history that includes some of today's top performers- John Mayer, Lady Gaga, Sting, Sheryl Crow, and David Bowie are just some of the artists that have graced the stage of the Cutting Room at its previous location. The Cutting Room continues the tradition of extraordinary performances and special moments, with a fresh new take on what a rock club and lounge should feel like.
